BTS Health Digest #08 - Courses to get you started in Health Tech
And Health Tech Webinar Weekend Holds this month.
One of the ways to get started or break into the health tech industry is by taking a university degree. The other ways include taking certification courses and internships, but the focus of this month’s newsletter is on university degrees.
A health tech university degree offers you a solid foundation in the practical and theoretical aspects of health technology. A good number of universities have built partnerships over the years with hospitals, health tech startups, pharmaceutical companies and research organizations which provide massive opportunities for graduates to connect, collaborate and undertake internships where possible. For example, Bournemouth University offers placements on one of its health tech courses. These networks remain gold after graduation. Finally, some universities are well funded to carry out research in health technology, and studying in such schools gives you the opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies.
Some of the health technology courses that you can study at post graduate level include:
Health Informatics
Health Data Science
Digital Health
Internet of Things
Artificial Intelligence
Applied Digital Health
Digital Health Leadership
Healthcare Data Analytics
Clinical Informatics
Healthcare Data Management
Health Communication and Marketing
Medical Imaging Informatics
Project Management
If you are looking to get into health tech, you might want to Google some of these courses, check their requirements, locations, and apply NOW! You can watch these videos to see schools in the UK where you can study Digital Health and Health Informatics in the UK.
It is also very important to state that these courses are not just for one set of healthcare professionals, they are for everyone. I recently completed my MSc in Health Informatics at Swansea University, and I had classmates who came from Pharmacy and social care. What really counts is the strength of your application and supporting statement.
I am a fan of bootcamps and internships hence the reason why I am always looking for the best deals for you. Novaros Care is organizing this one-week bootcamp on IBM-SPSS and I think it is a perfect opportunity for you to get started on your journey to becoming a data analyst. Register here.
All the best in your applications.
YouTube Channel Update
I have also been busy making videos and doing live interviews that you will find useful, especially those who are strongly considering pivoting into health tech or other non- clinical roles.
Here are my top four and you can watch them on my YouTube Channel for free.

Trending Health Tech Jobs in the UK.
For those looking for jobs in the UK with sponsorship, one of the jobs in demand is Project Managers (PM). If you are an experienced Project Manager, then you could get a job in the NHS with good pay and experience. Interestingly, I have a friend who is resuming this month in the UK as a PM. The trick is to prove to the recruiters why you are the best candidate for the job, and this is done by writing a very strong supporting statement.
Here are some jobs for you to look through:
NHS Project Management Roles
Quality Improvement Roles
Quality Improvement Project Manager Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust
Quality Improvement Facilitator, Warrington and Halton NHSFT
Audit and Quality Improvement Manager, Mid and South Essex NHSFT
If you are interested in these roles, you might want to sign up (optional) for our two-day weekend webinar happening at the end of May 2023 where I will share deep insights on how to land these sponsored jobs. Register here.
